HAWERA COUNTY.
NECESSITY FOR REVALUATION. (By Telegraph.—-Special to Star.) WELLINGTON,. Aug. 24. In asking the Prime Minister if he will instruct the Valuation Department to make an immediate revaluation of the Hawera County, Mr. Corrigan (Patea) stated that owing to the slump in land values some properties in this county are being sold at as much as £2O per acre lower than the present Government valuation, which was lust made in the 1919 boom period. Provision is.made in the Act for individual revaluation on the payment of a fee, but a general revaluation is required, as a continuance of tlie present valuations is a hardship to landowners, whose land tax and rates are computed on these high valuations.
