DESIRE TO RAISE STANDARD. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION ) PALMERSTON N., Aug. 23. At a meeting of the eouneif of the Ayrshire Breeders’ Association scheme was put forward by Mr Somerville, a. member of the executive, to place the breed on a sounder footing. Tlie scheme proposed: (J) An advanced registry for conformation; (2) an advanced registry for conformation and production. The objects of the proposal are to raise tlie standard of Ayrshire cattle in tlie Dominion, eliminate culls, place a hall-mark on animals worthy of the name of pedigree, and encourage testing, officially or through a recognised herd testing association. During the discussion it was pointed out that the time was not opportune to adopt such a scheme, which was lost on a show of hands.
