SETTLEMENT IN CANADA. AGREEMENT WITH BRITAIN. BY CABLE--PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT OTTAWA. Aug. 21. The settlement in Canada of three thousand British families, to be selected by the Dominion, has been arranged in the new immigration agreement concluded between the Minister for Immigration (Mr. James Robb) and the British Government. The agreement stipulates that the British Government shall provide all the money for the equipment and sailing, totalling approximately five million dollars, the settlers to- repay the amount within twenty-five years. The Immigration Department of Canada agrees to direct the settlement of these immigrants and to assist them through the services of its field staff. The settlers will be given the choice of land in any province they select, lhe sailings begin next March. Mr. Robb contended that the settlement Of British people was the responsibility of the British Government.
