OKAIAWA.
{From Our Own Correspondent.) MAORI MISSIONS. A little affair, organised bv Sister Alice Howell in aid of the Maori Missions. was held in the hall last week, afternoon and evening. The attendance in the afternoon was only moderate, due in a large measure to lack of advertising, but was quite good in the evening. There were various articles on sale, principally the work of the Maori girls; also a flower and produce stall. In the evening Mbs IVilliams (better 11 Sister Nellie) presided, and a. nice little programme-was gone through and was thoroughly enjoyed by those present. The programme was as follows: Orchestral selection. Mrs. and Misses Betts; recitation' Dorothy Crosby; song, Minnie Mori; piano solo, Annie Christianson; song, Miss Muschamp; hymn, children; recitation, Walter Walsdorf; song, Ivy Orossby; dialogue, children; ’somr, Annie Rangi; song, Mrs. Crossby: Maori hymn, children; dialogue, Misses Hoddinott and Grindrod, Messrs Hod-' dmott (2). A shooting gallerv in charge °/ u Mr - -trank Rea was a decided draw. Altogether the little affair was quite a success, and the promoters expressed satisfaction at the result. BOWLING CLUB’S BALL. The Bowling Club is holding a ball on Wednesday next. The bowlers’ dances are well known throughout the district as most enjoyable and well managed affairs, and there is sure to lie a large attendance. This will probably be the final ball of the season, and the last chance for patrons to enjoy Okaiawa’s popular fixture.
