ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
MAN KILLED BY A PULLEY. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) THAMES, Aug. 19. T.ssae Wade. a. single man aged 42 years, was killed this morning at the Ohinemuri gold and silver works at Marototo, near Hikutai-a on the Thames line. He was oiling up while the machinery was running when a pulley burst, the pieces hitting Wade and killing him instantly. The body was brought to Hikntaia, where an inquest will be held to-morrow. I CHILD DROWNED. WATHT, Aug. 19. Late yesterday afternoon the two and a half year old son of Mr. and Mrs. M. ITo-vell strayed from home, and was last seen playing on a bridge over a. swiftly running stream at "o p.m. Despite an all night search by 200 neighbours, cadets and Girl Guides, the body was not found till 11 a.m. today, 200 yards up stream from the bridge. It is surmised that he overbalanced when crossing the stream on a floating log and was held in a hole by an overhanging hawthorn bush.
