Sir Peter Rylands, interviewed, pointed out that though the Joan to Germany tinder the Dawes scheme might be to the general advantage through causing an increase in Germany's consuming power, it should not he overlooked that it would also stimulate the German steel trade, in which she is Britain’s most formidable competitor.
Sir Edwin Stockton emphasised the point that by putting Germany on her feet gain we would be equipping the severest competitor Britain ever had or is likely to have.
PARIS, Aug. 18. M. Herriot had an enthusiastic reception. A hundred thousand people swarmed the station and environs, hailed him .as “victor,” and cheered him tumultuously. There is little that the "Chamber will pass a vote of confidence, but the most interesting position may arise if M. Herriot makes a statement in the Senate, where M.
