DISASTER AY T ER,TED. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. SYDNEY, Aug. 17. A remarkable incident occurred near Munurundi. A goods train was passing through a lengthy tunnel when, it rushed down a. decline beyond, apparently out of control. The guard applied the emergency brake, and with difficulty brought the* train to a standstill. An investigation disclosed that the driver and fireman were unconscious, being overcome bv smoke fumes while passing through the tunnel. An hour elapsed before they were able to resume duty. The prompt action of the guard averted certain disaster.
