■ I ‘QUAKE IN JAPAN. BY CABLE PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT TOKTO, Aug. 15. The sharpest earthquake since Januaiy occurred at 3 o’clock this morning. It lasted four minutes and emptied most of the houses of their occupants. The observatory located the centre of the earthquake as the north-east border of Ibraki and leukushima provinces, where the shock was possibly severe, but no reports have been received, loading to uneasiness. The Prince Regent and the Princess are spending a holiday at Lake Inawashiro, which is within the possible zone of the activity.

The best previous time was made by the same steamer in August, .1922, when the crossing was made in 5 days 9 hours 20 minutes.
