TRAIN DERAILED.
IN AIANAWATU GORGE. (by TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) PALMERSTON N., Aug. 15. The 7.10 a.m. mixed train, travelling from Palmerston to Napier, was derailed in the -gorge this morning, owing to the engine striking a big boulder. Four waggons and the engine left the rails; the passenger cars remaining in the tunnel. The passengers walked to the gorge station, and motored to Woodville. The damage is slight, but it is expected the line will not be clear till the afternoon. There were 12 passengers, and no one was hurt, A chain of the track was damaged, but the line will probably be open this afternoon. The train is held up in the meantime. The gorge road js also closed.
Later. Ihe gorge railway was cleared before noon, and trains are again running. Ihe mail trains are expected to maintain schedule time.
