FARMERS’ UNION.
* maxaia branch. The monthly meeting was held in the County offices on Saturday. Air ■J. T. Clague presided over 'a good attendance. The treasurer gave a detailed account of expenditure in connection with .social and prizes.—It was resolved to send a fetter of tha/nks to Mr .J. Patterson and Air A. G. Bennett for special prizes. in reply to Air H. Sand ford, it was stated that competitions had always more than paid their way. Air V\ . Lester was elected a member of the Union. Alter correspondence was considered, a discussion on seasonable topics took place, the local demonstration fainn coming in for a good deal of friendly criticism, and the secretary was insti noted to write to the committee, asking it more information =ouhl he given to the public of their activities, and that field days he arranged to givefarmers the chance to sec for tlicmseh es the work that is being done. It was decided to ask for entries for the calf-rearing competition at next meeting.
At- the conclusion members were entertained to a splendid simper in Alilne and B.var’s tea-rooms by'a thoughtful member, and it was much appreciated.
