TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL.
EVENING OF DEBATE. During the last term the pupils of the Technical High School have been taking great interest in debating. With the idea of encouraging the young orators, and also of giving parents and friends an opportunity of hearing them, the school authorities have decided to hold an evening debate to-morrow (Friday) evening. All parents and friends will be heartily’ welcomed at the school, Camberwell road. The first debate will take place at 7.30 p.m. on the question “Was the British Government justified in abandoning the Singapore base scheme?” The afAmative wiFl be taken by the engineer students —V. Walslio, R. Beatson, F. Quin, C. Allen, and 11. Richards; and the negative by literary students—F. Ching, J. Sargent, P. Coleman, C. Harrison, and N. Salton. The second debate will be “Should boys be taught domestic work?” The affirmative wilL be supported by Doreen Bell, Olga Harding, Rita Sanson, Mary Quin, Katherine Quin, and Margaret Kirk; and the negative by E. Owen, A. Brett, J. Beauchamp, W. Phillips, C. Sturrock, and A. Harris. Mr P. O’Dea has kindly consented to act as judge.
