BEEfF GROWING INDUSTRY. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) MASTER.TON, Aug. 13. The culmination oU a quantity of correspondence appearing in the local press concerning the unstable positioh of the beef growing industry of New Zealand was a meeting of farmers today, at which various opinions were expressed concerning the possibilities of improving the industry. On the motion of Mr. L. T. Daniel! it was decided that the Meat Producers Board be asked to estimate the of beef to be eaten annually in New Zealand to cope with the glut in beef; further, to issue ninthly reports in various districts showing the percentage of meat eaten and the amount necessary to be eaten for the economic handling of the country’s .resoui’ces.

The mover stated that, working on the figures of the Meat Board’s annual report, if five per cent, more beef and five per cent, less mutton were eaten, we would annually consume 12,680 more head of cattle and save for export not less than 110,970 sheep, besides permitting a further growth of wool.
