HEAVY SEA SHIPPED. (by TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) NELSON, Aug. 12. The manager of the Anchor Company reports that the Regulus, when passing Karori light on Wednesday night last, shipped a heavy sea, and lost six barrels of oil, 20 cases, of kerosene, and other oils. This no doubt clears up the finding of ban-els reported yesterday. JOY RIDERS FINED. GORE, Aug. 12. Four local youths appeared before the Magistrate this morning on a charge of unlawfully converting to their own use two motor cars. Two of the youths were acquitted, and the others were fined £7 and £5 respectively. One of the ears was captured after an exciting midnight chase by the police recently. bookmaker fined. DUNEDIN. Aug. 13. Ai. the Police Court, .John William Logan, casual labourer in the Railway Department, was fined £lO for hookmaking. Police statements showed that accused confined operations to shilling doubles among his fellow workers and friends. FIRE IN STEAMER. AUCKLAND. Aug. 13. A file was discovered early this morning in the starboard hunker of the steamer Rio Clairo at Queen's Wharf, ft had a fairly good hold, and the iron deck from the bunker \o the engineroom was so hot that it buckled I slightly. The fire was quickly suppressed by the fire brigade.
