An amusing incident was witnessed on the railway station at Palmerston North. A. telegraph messenger was endeavouring to locate tlie addressee of a telegram, and a new arrival to the country beckoned to him. The boy, after a few minutes’ endeavour to understand the immigrant’s dialect, gave up the attempt, and. turning to a companion, remarked in a disgusted time: “Tt’s no use. they can t speak English.”
