STABBING AFFAIR. (BY' TELEGRAPH —-PRESS ASSOCIATION.) W ELL IN GTO N, Aug. 9. As a sequel to a stabbing affair, Clifford Odlin,' aged 19, was charged with wounding Leila Reichel, with intent to do> grievous bodilv harm, and was remanded till Wednesday as, being in hospital, lie was unable to> appear. ALLEGED INDECENT ASSAULT. TAIHAPE, Aug. 11. At the Police Court this morning, before a Justice of the Peace, Thomas Neyvall, alias John W. Newall, aged 24 years, was charged with indecent assault on a girl under the age of 12 years. Accused was remanded till Monday, bail not being asked for.
CHARGE AGAINST BILLIARD SALO'pN OWNER. TAIHAPE, Aug. 11. As a sequel to a police raid on Saturday night on the premises of Herbert Rueben Moore, billiard room proprietor, 10 persons appeared at the 1 oJice Court this morning. Mooj-e was charged with keeping a common gaming house; Archibald Wadsworth with assisting to conduct the same; and eight others with being found on the premises. The police . applied for a remand till Monday, which was granted. Bail was granted of £IOO each in the cases of Moore and Wadsworth, and £5 each in the case of the others. OBITUARY. NELSON, Aug. 11. Obituary—Major E. H. Barr, D. 5.0., R.M.A. Deceased came to New Zealand fo>r health reasons after long war strain, commencing with the Marine Artillery in the original British Expeditionary Force. He was the onlv surviving son of Cant. F. T. Barr, R.N.. of Emsworth, Hants. He leaves a widow and three young children in Nelson. COURT CLEARED. WELLINGTON. Aug. 11. At the Supreme Court the trial is proceeding of Margaret Roberts, on a charge of the alleged use of an unlawful instrument The court was cleared during the hearing.
