Eames and Doust beat Bayley and Willard 6-2, 6-4. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE DOUBLES. SELECTING AMERICA’S PLAYERS. Received Aug. 11, 12.20 p.m. • NEIW YORK, Aug. 10. The United States Lawn Tennis Association has announced that the officials will carefully estimate the capabilities of the various American teams entered for the national doubles championship in order to choose the double representatives for the Davis Cup team immediately thereafter to permit them continuously to practice together. The chief combinations will be Johnston and Griffin and Kinsey brothers and Washburn. The French Davis Cup team will also participate in the doubles and singles championships. The latter are attracting virtually every famous American and international player. The singles and doubles championshps will prove an effective test for the Australian team, preliminary to both the final and challenge rounds for the Davis Cup. AN OFER TO DEMPSEY. Received Aug. 11, 11.5 a.m. NEW YORK, Aug. 9. A message from Los Angeles states that Dempsey has received a tempting offer to go to London to meet Tom Gibbons. Tho offer is too good to ignore. Dempsey starts training on Monday, and will try to get into condition by October to accept either the English offer or meet the winner of tho Wills-Firpo fight.—Reuter. NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, Aug. 11. The first annual meeting of the recently constituted New - Zealand Boxing Association was held to-day, Mr. C. F. Sanders (Auckland) presiding. It was decided not to receive the annual report of the New Zealand Box. i n g Council, and that the headquarters of the association be at Wellington. The election of officers resulted: Vicepresidents, Messrs F. J. Campbell (Dunedin) and A. P. Whatman (Masterton); members of the council, Messrs G. A. Dawson, E. Blundell, G. P. Aldridge, J. Simpson, D. R. Hoggard, Dr. MeEvedv, and Colonel R. J. Beere; appeal committee, Messrs A. E. Craig, V. R. Meredith, H R. McKenzie (Auckland), and R, W McVillv. The president of the Wellington Association automatically becomes president of the New Zealand Association, in view of its location in Wellington. Christchurch' was agreed unon as the venue of the 1925 New Zeal and amateur championship meeting.

LEAGUE MATCH AT DUNEDIN. LOSS OF £228. DUNEDIN, Aug. 11. Tlie gross proceeds of the Rugby League match were £B3O. There was heavy expenditure, including legal expenses, which involved a loss on the match of £228.
