IRELAND.

A FRIENDLY SPIRIT. OFFER BT SIB JAMES CRAIG. t. —— BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received Aug. 11. 8.5 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 10. Sir James Craig has issued a statement wherein he reiterates his offer to meet Mr Cosgrave in a friendly spirit to settle the boundary question. The aid of expert opinion or any other method of settlement would only reopen the whole Irish question, with disastrous results to Ireland and the Empire. Mr Austen Chamberlain, sneaking at North weth, asked: Cannot Sir James Craig and Mr Cosgrave take their courage into their own l«ands and strike out off a line which would deal even-handed justice between the two States. No Liberal or Conservative who had been a party to the Irish treaty would agree to the bargaining away of Fermanagh and Tyrone, and great wisdom would be needed to prevent ' national disaster.—Aus.-N.Z.
