ENCOURAGING FLYING. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT LONDON, Aug. 8. It is announced that the Air Council has decided to encourage the formation of light aeroplane clubs throughout the country by giving financial assistance for two years to the establishment of ten such clubs in the leading commercial centres, each club being required to provide at least an equivalent amount. , f LOW MARRIAGE RATE. LONDON, Aug. 9. The Registrar-General’s report for the first quarter of 1924 shows the lowest marriage rate ever recorded, there being 12,572. fewer than in the corresponding quarter of 1923. EMPIRE EXHIBITION. LONDON. Aug. 9. Glorious weather prevailed to-day, and 64,000 were present at the Empire Exhibition at Wembley.
