RICCARTON NOTES. YESTERDAY’S TRAINING WORK. OHRISTGHURCH, Aug. 7. Atrocious weather conditions prevailed this morning, making things very unpleasant at Riccarton. Bitterly cold rain i'ell steadily. The No. 1 grass track was open and all work was done on it. The heavy overnight rain made the going very bad, and in consequence no fast times were recorded. In fact most of the trainers restricted their teams to half and three-quarter paw work. There was practically no schooling, and on the whole the work was not very interesting. Income was to have been schooled, but the idea was dropped. It is probable he will jump on Saturday in company with several other horses, in which case H. Cray will nde him. Income, with Tinokaha. and the jumper Polthogue, galloped a mile in 1.59. with the, last-named beaten off at the finish.

Omahu and Bonibrook were companions over a mile, run in 1.53. Both had good weights up. Omahu went on for another round by himself.

Weeta cleared away from Prince Ferouz and Los Ambus over the early part of their gallop of six furlongs. Over the- concluding stages they both got him, finishing in line in 1.25 3-d. Red Wink and Clareina sprinted up the back, going well. Winkie’s Best sprinted half a mile in ddsec.

Ravenna was in front of Avispado over the concluding stages of five furlongs. run in 1.11. Le Forte galloped nine furlongs, being picked up by Markie over the last five furlongs. Tbe pair finished together. Winning Hit, assisted by Barn Owl. galloped six furlongs in 1.24 4-d. Ruby Ring, with a good weight up. galloped five furlongs in 1.24 4-5. Star Ranger and a companion galloped six furlongs, the former being easily /the better. Carawock, alone, sprinted half a mile: in 57-sec. Dame Straitlaee covered a mile at three-quarter pace. Te Anau Lad, alone, galloped six furlongs in 1.23 4-5. Warseer and the Polynmian sprinted half a mile along the back nicely.
