ASSAULT.
CHARGE AND COUNTER-CHARGE. TRIES TO USE KNIFE. (BY’ TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 7. In the Magistrate’s Court to-day a Hindu named Lutu Rainga charged F. J. R.uscoe, a carrier, with assault, and the latter preferred a similar charge against Rainga. Evidence was given that the Hindu accosted a young woman R.uscoe was speaking to and tried to force his acquaintance on her. Ruseoe knocked him. down, and Rainga then tried to use a knife. The magistrate commented severely on Rainga’s behaviour and warned him that such conduct.would not be tolerated. He had better mend his ways. Rainga was ordered to enter into a bond of £SO to be of good behaviour for 12 months. As to Ruseoe, while his action was not legal, jt was human, and he would be convicted and discharged.
