KNOX CHURCH. ANNUAL MEETING OF CONGREGATION. The annual meeting of the congregation of Knox Presbyterian Church was held on 'Wednesday evening, the Rev. E. J. Orangei presiding. Respite the inclemency of the weather, there was a good attendance, the smaller country centres being -.represented. The Board of Management - übvnitted the annual report and balance-sheet, which showed the revenue, to have been £698 15s 7d, and the expenditure £672 14s 9d, leaving a credit balance » f £'26 Os lOd. The liabilities last year were £1849 6s lOd, this year £1666 7s 7cl, a decrease of £lB2 19s 3d. The New Century Loan of £175 has been reduced by £5, and in addition to this the sum of £BO has been repaid to private lenders. Du/ring the past two years the bank overdraft was reduced bv £llO, this year’s reduction being approximately £4O, as compared with £‘7o last year. The sum of £142 lias been expended cn the repayment and reduction of other loans. The Sunday collections for the past financial year show a large improvement -on the figuires far last year, apd -this is clue largely to the success of the envelope system. A comparison of the Sunday collection figures for the past three years shows that in 1922 they were £289, in 1923 they were £327 10s, and this year they are £422 iss, an increase of approximately £'9s above Inst year’s figures. The Ladies’ Guild had raised £165. The. report and balance shoe; were adopted on the motion ot Mr E. Hodgson, seconded by Mr J. Lanibie. The report of the Session Committee showed that, 42 members had been admitted during the ; ear. The recommendation of the management committee that the minister's salary Ire increased from £250 to £3OO per annum was carried on the motion of Mir S. F. Prosser, seconded by Mr Hodgson. A vote of thanks by acclaim. t:< n was carried to Mrs Kerr and Air Stockwell for subsidising flic June .?■ oeipts to the extent of about 424. Mr G. H. P. Fitzgerald » as unanimous! v re-elected auditor.
During the evening refresh ..’rents were handed round and musical solos wejre. contributed, by- Miss ' elvin, Mrs A. Reeslev, Mrs H. Giibb, and Miss Dorothy Cross contributed a recitation, ‘‘When the Minister Comes to Tea.”
