TARANAKI RUGBY UNION.
GENERAL MEETING. After the match a general committee was held, Mr. J. McLeod (chairman) presiding. There were present • Messrs. J. Goodwin, A. F. NeiHon, A. R. Davies, E. H. Young, L. J. Furrie, B Saunders, F. Whyte, A. 0. Casey, Jas. Garcia, and the secretary (S. Nielson). Apologies were received from Messrs.' Papps, B. Fearon and W. A. Guy. R FFEREES ’ ASSOC r ATION. The secretary advised that since 1911, when North and South had amalgamated, there had been only one association with an executive headquarters at Stratford, and that therefore the statement made by the .union that in 1919 there were two wa« incorrect. Ho added that the first secretary was the late Mr. C. Potts, of Eltham. MOASCAR CUP MATCH. An inquiry was received from Mr. Moves as to whether a player who had been in senior fixtures was debarred from playing in the school matches. The point was that Loveridge. who had been a Tukapa. senior, was now a student- at the school. It was stated that in other centres bovs played senior while at school, and Air. Moves was informed that Loveridge was eligible. COMING REP. MATCHES.
In view of the. fact that the Wanganui match was set down for Hawera on the same day as the Moascar Cup match as it was impossible to play this rep. match during tbe week, it was resolved to alter the Wanganui match, to New Plymouth and to play the NorthAuckland match at Hawera on August 23. EGMONT A. AND P. GROUNDS.
Correspondence was received from the association asking for permission to allow a soccer match to be played on August 6. The association questioned the union’s right to expect the percentage of gates in the Chinese match to be • applied to reduce the amount to be paid by the union, but the chairman pointed out that the arrangement with the association was plainly that the union should have full playing rights over the ground, and that the association had recognised this by asking permission to allow a soccer match and gymkana during the year. It. was resolved to hold a round table conference on the matter. JUNIOR FINALS. As the result-,of a dram, it was arranged that in the first juniors Stratford will play the winners of the Rahotu—Crenui fixture, and in the other grade Eltham will play the winners of Clifton v. Stratford. An endeavour will be made to play both finals on August 14 at Inglewood. In view of a question in reference, to a senior team forfeiting and so disqualifying the juniors, it was resolved to dose the senior division competition. A Rahotu player in the Star ARahotu match; ordered off by the referee was ordered to stand down for a week, as there was some evidence that the supposed striking was really fending off an opponent. The referees’ annual match was arranged for Saturday at New Plymouth . '
A suggestion from the Tukapa Ground Committee to the union to lease their grounds at £SO per annum for five years was held over for consideration next year. Permission was given to the Star Club ro play their Dan O’Brien and Carbine Shield matches with Tukapa on September fi op 13. 1
