The tendency on the part of some licensees was to get the maximum out of the business, and , give the minimum to the travelling; public. J lie architect, said .the owners were particularly desirous of doing any work which the committee thought whs necessary. further details of the plans cvere rejerred to, after which an extension of tiie present .temporary license to December ;j was granted. Mr Beechey,' on behalf of the licensee of the Railway Hotel, Waitotara, made formal application for a renewal . oi the license, he stating that repairs ordered were almost completed. Mr Barton said he was not prepared to grant a renewal at the present stage, as the committee had received a strongly-worded adVer.se police report in connection with the hotel.
