The tendency on the part of some licensees was to get the maximum out of the business, and , give the minimum to the travelling; public. Mr Beechey,' on behalf of the licensee of the Railway Hotel, Waitotara, made formal application for a renewal . oi the license, he stating that repairs ordered were almost completed. Mr Barton said he was not prepared to grant a renewal at the present stage, as the committee had received a strongly-worded adVer.se police report in connection with the hotel.
