NO TRACE.
THE GIRL’S MOVEMENTS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received Aug. 5, 10.15 a.m. MELBOURNE, Aug. 5 In connection with the Tuckerman murder, the police traced the o-irl’s movements to 11.30 a.m., and believe that the establishment of her movements immediately after that will clear up what is at present a mystery. Heavy rain fell at intervals on Saturday night, and a point of interest is that neither the sacks nor the girl’s clothes were wet. The maiority of the buildings and stables in the locality uere. thoroughly searched bv the police. 1 artially congealed blood was found outside one house, but investigations threw no light on the. crime. The police found a deep impression of heavy motor car tyres close to the grass plot where the body was discovered, and following the" tracks they found that the car had swerved from the centre to the side of the road. In this way, it is thought, the body of the child may have been brought .from some distance. A similar theory was at- first held in connection with the Gun Alley murder, but it was later exploded. It is believed that death occurred about 8 o’clock on Saturday night. This outrage and other recent crimes have awakened a determination in the minds -of the Ministry to have the police force reorganised.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
