INTENTIONS OF BRITAIN. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION— COPYRIGHT During a debate in the House of Commons on Mesopotamia, Mr J. H. Thomas (Colonial Secretary) said Britain was committed by the late Government to quit in four vears, but no one speaking on behalf of the present Government could give a guarantee, as something might happen to alter the situation before the end of that period.
“It is the Government’s intention to get out,’’ added Mr Thomas, “but we want to get out with honour.’’
