COST TO STATE. THE TEACHERS’ SHARE. (BY TELEGHuPH —PRESS ARSOCTATIOV.) W ELLINGTON, July 29. The expenditure on education was touched on by the Hon. C. J. Parr (Minister for Education) during the Budget debate in the House to-night He reminded the House that the expenditure was now over £3,000,000 per annum, and of this sum over 80 per cent went out in the payment of salaries. He did not say the salaries were too high—they were good—but he desired to remind the country that 80 per cent of the total expenditure was paid to teachers by Avay of salaries.
