OPUNAKE POWER BOARD.

OBJECTION UPHELD. With reference to the petition protesting against present members of the board being appointed the Under Secretary advises as follows: In a ease of this nature -where there- has been a failure to elect the representatives for the constituent district being portion of the Egmont County, the GovernorGeneral has power to appoint such qualified persons as lie thinks fit to be representatives of the constituent district on the Power Board. I note that the petitioners are of opinion that the present members of the Board are not giving satisfaction, and under these cir. cum stances the Egmont County Council is being asked to arrange for a public meeting of ratepayers of which public notice is to he given for the purposes of nominating five qualified persons to represent the portion of the Egmont County affected on the Power Board.

The Town Board members will be elected at the Town Board elections in September.—Times.
