STENLAKE.—In fond and loving memory of our dear son Eric John Stenlake, who was aeeidentallv killed at Otakeho, duly 30th, 1923; aged 17 years and 5 months. One year has passed, how long it seems, In all our thoughts your face still’ beams; Only those who have lost one are able to tell The pain at the heart of not saving farewell. No matter how we pray, dear Eric; no matter how we call, There ’$ nothing left to answer but your photo on the wall. A painful shock, a dreadful blow, Oh, Eric dear, we miss you so; Our loss is great, we’ll not complain, But trust in God to meet again.
