TIMBER WORKERS.
A VIGOROUS PROTEST. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) INVERCARGILL. July 29. The Southland Sawmill Workers’ Union has decided to vigorously protest against the importation of foreign timbers, and to hiring the matter bellore the Premier and the Labour leader. It was stated that the price of Baltic spruce butter boxes impoirt'/d jfrom Sweden was below the cost of production of white pine;’, due to the lower wages, and unless something is done it was contended that a large number would become unemployed.
