SMOKE CONCERT.

ELTITAM FOOTBALL CLUB. ' The Eltharn Football! Club held a smoke concert in the Foresters’ Hall on Saturday evening last. There was a large attendance of footballers, exfootballers, supporters, followers of other sports, etc. The Patea Football Club were the guests of the evening. The tables were tastefully laid*, out, Mesdames IT. Nodder and Riordan being responsible for ..this, portion of tin lunction. The colours of the Eltharn Club, black and white, had been tastefully worked into the table decoration selieme. Vinsen’s Stratford Jazz Band played the music for the evening and enlivened proceedings bv some popular ail's. The chair was occupied by Mr A. D. Casey, who referred to the pleasure it gave him to see such a representative gathering present that evening, It showed, he said, that interest in Rugby sport was not on the wane. A number-of toasts - were. honoured, and during the evening songs, instrumental solos and recitations were contributed by Messrs. C. ‘McQuin, 'Forsyth, Kelly, Miller and S. Carson, while Mr. V insen contributed a ventriloquial sketch. The cup won by the Eltharn. 111. team for the 1924 season was presented h.v Mr. J. Goodwin, of Hawera, to Mr. Ward, the manager, at a suitable stage in -the proceedings, (reference made to the team’s unbeaten record. — Argus.
