Sir John Luke ? one of New Zealand’s delegates to the Empire Parliamentary Conference in South Africa, in an. interview, said lie thought the languages of Australia and New Zealand were varying. Australians were dropping into a characteristic twang or intonation which was difficult to describe, but New Zealand was trying to keen to the- English way, which he thought was the better.
Sir John said Australia was producing beautiful women, who.-were) taller than New Zealanders, but they did not have the same bloom on their cheeks. He added that the reason whv few painted and rouged faces in New ‘Zealand were noticed in comparison with those seen in Australian cities was because of the difference in complexions.
