VIOLET DAY IN WELLINGTON.
t We have-been asked to draw attention to the annual Violet Day, which is to be held in Wellington on August 1. The proceeds go towards the support of the residential nursery, an institution which takes charge of children while mothers are in hospital or are undergoing any special treatment. The Hawera branch of the Women’s National Reserve assists, and from the Rest Room, where the work is done week by week, quantities of clothes are sent. The local branch of the Reserve asks people to send flowers, eggs, and other saleable goods to the Rest Room by to-morrow morning. The Reserve will pack and' despatch the goods to Wellington, where they will be sold on Friday—Violet Day. The residential nursery has proved of great service, meeting a. much-needed want in the city, and it merits widespread support. Any mother from this district, were it necessary for her to visit Wellington for medical attention or for special treatment, would be entitled to the benefits of the residential nursery did she so desire.
