GALE AT SEA.

SEVERE BUFFETING. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, July 28. The steamer Port Curtis, which arrived yesterday from London with a full general cargo, was severely buffeted during the last week. The decks were continually awash, and at the height, of the gale last Tuesday a huge sen smashed aboard over the forecastle, damaging the deck fittings and rail. The ship hove-to for a time. The Port Curtis called at Pitcairn Island, where apparently all is well.
