BURNED TO DEATH.

FATE OF CHILDREN. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT MELBOURNE, July 27. Alexander Walker, the father of the victims of the Warragul tragedy, was badly burned in endeavouring to save the children. When he saw the flames he rushed to the house and attempted to climb in through the window, but lie was driven back. Then lie got an axe and smashed in the side of the house, but the room was a roaring mass of fire and he had to retreat.

The children were probably then dead. If he had arrived a few minutes earlier they would have been saved. The nearest house was a mile and a half away, and the parents had to attempt the rescue unaided.
