Under present arrangements the representative fixture, Taranaki v. AVangamii. is fixed to be played at Hawera on that date, so that unless other arrangements are made the two fixtures will clash. ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL. CHINESE “SOCCER”’ TOUR. DR AAV AGAINST POVERTY BAY. (IIY TELEGRAPW —p-RV.SS ASSOCIATION.') GISBORNE, July 25. The Chinese “soccer” team arrived in Gisborne last night overland from Napier, and on arrival were entertained by the local Chinese Association. This morning the visitors were accorded a civic reception. In the afternoon the Chinese met Poverty Bay before an attendance of 5000, the game ending without score. The game was a brilliant exposition of football, and will prove a great uplift to “soccer” in Poverty Bay. The combination of the visitors was much sunerior to that of the local men, and but for the good work of the hacks the visitors would have scored on several occasions. In the evening the visitors were the guests at a very largely attended cabaret. They leave overland on Sunday for the south.
