THE AIEREAIERE COMPANY. The twenty-ninth annual report of the Meremere Dairy Company states: The cheese anti butter market during the past season has again been a fluctuating one. and the company were most fortunate in making advantageous sales at both the beginning and the end of the season. The estimated payout is Is sid, but as the unrealised consignments have been valued at a conservative figure we hope to be able to exceed the estimate. The amount already paid to suppliers is Is 6d for August, nnd Is otl over the balance or the season. The retiring directors are Messrs A R. Walker, J. Lander, and W. Savage. The season’s statistics show that 6,.504,1811b of milk were received, _ the amount of butter-fat being 243,3541 b. The average test was 3.74, and the total charges to f.o.b. ocean steamer on butter and cheese at per lb of butter-fat was 4.42 d. For cheese-making 6,142,0321 b of milk were used, representing 229,1/81b or butter-fat. The average test of the milk was 3.73. It took 9.931 bof nnlk to make lib of cheese, and 2.6981 b ot cheese were made from each lb ot butter-fat. The total amount of cheese made was 618,4681 b (276 tons 2 cwt.). For butter-making 362,1491 b of milk were used, this representing 14,1/6U) of butter-fat. The average test was 3.91 and each poud or butter-fat made 1.221 bpf butter. The total amount ot butter made Tvas 17,2961 b (9 tons 14 cwt.).
NORAIANBY COMPANY'S REPORT
The thirtieth annual report of the Normanby Dairy Company states: The season, so far as the company is concerned, has been most successiu , our output showing a large increase over the previous year. The cheese and butter unsold at date of balance has been ' estimated to realise respectively 85s and 168 s per cwt, London. On this basis, and after providino" for interest on shares, the balance “on hand will bring.the estimated payment for-the season up to Is 6-40, which 11111st be considered most satisfactory Last season’s pay-out was £ estimated at Is 93d, but this was exceeded, the filial payment bringing the amount up to Is 10R1. The cheese market this season lias shown many marked rises and falls in respect to prices. When the price dropped to 82s yonr directors considered it wise to hold, and their action lias been well justified. The retiring directors are Messrs. F. W. Atkins and W. Mort-i lock, both of whom are eligible for reelection. The season’s staistics show
the following returns: Milk received, 14,469,094 lb; butter-fat, 584,459 lb; avenage, test, 4.03; number' of suppliers, 59 ; total charges, including repairs and depreciation, to f.o.b. steamer 011 butter and cheese at per lb butter-fat, 3.50 d ; number of cows | supplying factory, 2322; average lbs liutter-fat per cow, 251.7. j The amount of milk used for butter-. making was 13,980,052 lbs; representing 560,567 lb of butter-fat. The amount of cheese made was 1,510,513 lb (674 tons 6 cwt). It took 9.251 b of milk to make lib of cheese, while 2.69ib of cheese were made from each pound of butter-fat. The average test of the milk us'ed for cheesemaking was 4.0. • Milk used for butter-making totalled 489,042 lb, which made 28,468 lb of butter, representing 23,892 lb of bntter-fat. The average test of the milk used for butter-making was 4.88. One pound of butter-fat made 1.1915 lb of butter. The over-run was 19.15.
