TRAGIC EIRE LN SYDNEY. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received July 24. 11.25 a.in. SYDNEY, July 24. A tragic fire at a stable at Camperdown, leased to AV. E. Budd, resulted in the loss of about a dozen, horses and the death of Jack Sullivan, aged 60, who was engaged with many other willing helpers in freeing the horses, numbering sixty-six. Sullivan was trapped by the flames and burnt to death. When he realised that his escape was cut off he climbed to a ventilator which overlooks the street, but could only put bis head through the opening in. the reinforced iron wall. Despite the frantic efforts of onlookers to make the opening larger, the flames- reached the unfortunate man before they managed it. The fire brigade arrived a few minutes too late. The horses were valued at £7b sach. The harness, valued at several hundred pounds, was destroyed.
