REMITS PASSED. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.! WELLINGTON, July 23. At the Farmers’ Union conference the following remits were passed: That in the opinion of this meeting of fanners it is unwise and impolitic for the Farmers’ Union to engage in the strife of party politics, and that only general politics as they aifect the life and well-being of the primary producers of the whole community should lie touched on by the Fanners’ Union. That the Government be urged to adojpt- a more progressive policy of financial advances on farm mortgages aw adopted by the State Advances to Settlers’ Office. That the railway tariff be not used for productive purposes.

That this conference' considers that when estates were purchased by the Government for soldiers’ r.etT,leme:us. the Crown should refund to the local bodies the loss of rates sustained owing to the inability of the settlers to meet their liabilities.
