HAWERA CROQUET CLUB.
PRESENTATION TO MRS BENNETT On Tuesday a very pleasant function took place at the residence of Mrs Suisted, when the members of the Hawera Croquet Club met to wish Mrs B. C. Bennett, who leaves Hawera with Mr Bennett on Monday, next, on a very happy holiday. Mrs Bennett was the recipient of a posy of violets, presented by Mrs Suisted. After a dainty afternoon tea. was served Mrs Morris, vice-president of the club, eulogised the work of Mrs Bennett in her various offices of secretary, committee member, and captain of the club during the many years she had been a mueh-vaued member. She had always taken a keen interest in teaching the game to others, in organising methods of raising funds, and, in fact, in all wavs “to play the game.” Mi's Bennett, as champion and the best player in the club, will he missed greatv during the coming season. Mrs Morris then asked Mrs Bennett to accept a suede traveling hag cushion as a small token of the club’s appreciation of her valued work. With it went the wishes of every member for a happy holiday and a safe return. The members would like her. 'too, to convey to Mr Bennett their best wishes that he may enjoy every minute of his tour with the All Black football team. All would look forward with pleasure' to their safe return in good health to Hawera . Mrs Bennett thanked the members for their kind wishes. She knew that each time she used the cushion the memory of their kind thoughts and that very pleasant afternoon would come hack to her. She hoped the club would have a very successful and happy time during the coming season.
