MOOSE AND WAPITI.

FLOURISHING IN OTAGO SOUNDS. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, July 22. It is announced in the Wellington Acclimatisation Society’s report that both moose and wapiti are flourishing in the Otago Sounds. The former are estimated to number 80 to 100, but they are in rough country and difficult to approach. The wapiti cover a more extended area and number about two thousand. The best heads will be taken in the next five to ton years. One head was recently taken with a span of 54 inches, within four inches of the world’s record.
