THIEF SENT TO GAOL. (BY TELEGRAM! PREBB ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, July 21. John Graham, described as a professional thief having served several terms of imprisonment, was to-day sentenced to six months on each of two charges of theft of passengers’ luggage from the railways, with an additional three years’ reformative treatment. The police stated that recently there had been an epidemic of theft of this kind. ALLEGED BREACH OF BANKRUPTCY ACT. PALMERSTON N., July 21. i "'V' Court Joseph Sutherland Munro was committed for trial foi alleged breach of the Bankruptcy in that within three years before the commencement of Ills' bankruptcy he failed to keep such books of account as are usual and proper in the business carried on by bankrupt. COMMITTED FOR TRTAL. AUCKLAND, July 21. At the Police Court, to-day John Onslow Wheeler, aged 31, was charged with breaking and entering the premises of Turnbull and Jones on two occasions and stealing goods of a total value of £3O ts. He was also charged with the theft on another occasion of goods. He pleaded not guiltv, reserved his defence, and was committed for trial. Accused previously was a carter for the firm.
