HONORARY MEDICAL STAFF.
APPOINTED TO HAWERA HOSPITAL. Ihe question of the appointment of an honorary medical staff has been before the Hawera Hospital Board for a considerable time, and at the June meeting, after hearing the views of medical practitioners, the Board decided to make the experiment, and agreed to appoint, subject to the Minister s approval, three of the local doctors.
i H °,T ev6l ‘ '*■ 1S clearly understood by all parties that the Board is giving the system a trial, and that if found unsatisfactory the Board can Ca arrangement at any time. • Minister of Health has % now signified his approval, to the appointmenfc of Doctors A. M. Young, J. McGhie and W. F. Buist, bub the Direc-tor-General of Health, in a letter to the Board, stated that neither the Minister nor himself viewed the appointment of an honorary medical staff for a hospital of the size of Hawera with a great deal of satisfaction, but nevertheless they were prepared to take the Board’s recommendation in the matter, and would await with considerable interest the Board’s opinion m the course of the ensuing year. The chairman (Mr F. Gillanders) said that the system would be in operation here in a few days.
