BURGLAR BUSY.

HOTEL ENTERED AND ATTEMPT MADE ON BANK: (BY TELEGRAPH—PREBS ASSOCIATION.) W AIM ATE, July 19. A burglar entered the Criterion Hotel and secured £l2 from the safe. An attempt was also made to enter the Bank of New South Wales. One of the staff, who was sleeping on the premises, saw a man outside the manager’s room and fired at him. The man cleared out. Investigation disclosed that the ga s meter had been turned off and the telephone wires cut.
