MANGAMINGI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) One of the most enjoyable evenings ever spent in Mangamingi was the occasion of the ladies’ lean year hall, which took place on Tuesday, 15th instant. No effort had been spared by the single ladies of the district to make the occasion oiie that was likely to be remembered and, being favoured with a beautiful evening, the residents not only of Mangamingi, but from the surrounding districts as well, turned out in good numbers, thus ensuring a successful evening’s enjoyment. The hail had been very tastefully decorated, and the floor was all that could be desired for dancing. The latter- was clearly demonstrated by the fact that dancing was kept up until the early hours of morning. Supper was provided by the ladies of the district, the baskets being very prettily decorated for the occasion. Misses McCool, Osbourne, Boddie and Hickey acted as M.C.’s, while Mr TT. Major presided at the piano. On Thursday last the Mangamingi footballers journeyed to Rawhitiroa to try conclusions with the latter in a friendly game of football. The game, which was controlled by Mr C. C. Thompson, resulted in a win for Rawhitiroa by 8 points to nil. Afternoon tea was provided bv the ladies of Rawhitiroa, and was much appreciated by both teams. Fiior to the wedding of Miss Forrester. of Mangamingi. and Mr Griffin, of Toko, a very pleasant evening in the lorm of a kitchen tea was held at the home of the parents of the bride. Quite a number of the residents of Ibodistrict were present, and the bride was the recipient. of a number op handsome presents.
