BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ CLUBS.
THIS SEASON’S WORK. This year’s work is to be pushed forward at once by the executive of the Farmers’ Union, and at their meeting yesterday it was decided to hold the annual meeting on Saturday next, July 26. It was fixed for the morning at 10.30 a.m. so that members would be free for the afternoon. The committee organising the competitions are Messrs. R. Dunn, F. Mills and G. H. Buckeridge, and at the meeting Mr. H. Sutherland was added as a, member. It was resnived that the competition for calf-rearing should be open to all calves born between July 30 and September IMr. Buckeridge, advised that it was expected they would be ■ able to relieve the Farmers' Union of ail financial obligations in connection with the competitions. He added that they hoped to enlist the aid of the townspeople, and stated that in Canada the banks actively supported the scheme. It was recognised generally that the scheme was as valuable to town as fo country. The -prospects for this year were considered exceedingly bright. ' '
