_ PARIS, July 17. , No importance is attached to to-day’s meeting between Weismuller and Charlton. Weismuller made the pace and left Charlton tyveiity metres behind at 300 metres. Thereafter he slowed down. Charlton, swimming his easiest, finished well ahead of Smith. In the second semi-final Borg was not troubled, and swain with the greatest ease. The American, Brewes, withdrew. To-morrow’s final is regarded as one of the greatest races in the history of swimming.
