WORKERS CROWDING INTO
CITIES. SESSIONAL COMMITTEES. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, July 17. The House of Representatives met at 2.30 p.m. The Sneaker announced that, accompanied by several members, he had presented to His Excellency the Gover-nor-General the address which had been agreed to. by the House in reply to His Excellency’s Speech, and His Excellency has been pleased to make a suitable reply. Replying to Mr J. Munro (Dunedin South), the Hon. J. G. Coates said the Government was prepared to employ fifty unemployed in Dunedin. He advised workers generally not to crowd into the cities during the winter, but to go out into the country districts. A Labour member: Where is there work in the country? The Minister said was plenty of work in the country. Men should "not crowd into Dunedin until the exhibition authorities were ready to proceed with their buildings,. Replying to the Hon. J. A. Ha.na.ll (Invercargill) Mr Massey said he hoped to deliver the Financial Statement an Tuesday night. The House then proceeded to set up the usual session committees as proposed by. Ministers, except that at- Mr H. Holland’s request Mr YV. E. Parry (Auckland Central) was added to the Goldfields and Mines Committee, and the Hon. J. C. Parr and Mr Tau Henare to the committee to consider licensing legislation.
