AUROA.

ANNUAL “SOCCER” BALI/. The second annual ball in connection with the Auroa Soccer 'Club was held in the Auroa. Hall on Friday last, when there were present about ICO to 170 residents, including visitors from Hawera, Kaponga and the surrounding district, also the president and secretary of the T.F.A. The hall was nicely Tilled with dancers, which, coupled with the decorations carried out by members of the club and their lady friends, made the surroundings attractive and pleasant .to all concerned, the stage especially Using beautifully decorated, not forgetting the decorations in the supper-room, for which credit was due to the ladies in charge. During an interval in the programme, Air \V. Bradford, president of the club, called upon Air and Airs Barlow to take a seat on the platform, it being the last function in connection with the Auroa Soccer Club they would be privileged to attend before their departure from the district. Air Brad-, ibid expressed the appreciation of the club to Air and Airs Barlow for the many acts of kindness they had extended to the._club in many ways. He especially wished to thank Airs Barlow for her kindness in supplying tea, etc., ho members and visiting teams all last season, and lie was sure the schoolboys would also remember Airs Barlow for her many kindnesses to them on the football field. Not only did they do their utmost- for the club, of which Air Barlow was a playing member, but whatever came along they were always there to assist, and the district would be very sorry to lose such kindly-dis-posed residents. The writer would also like to add his sincere .thanks to them, for at all times their services were available, no matter whether big or small. They were always ready to assist him in bringing to a successful issue the doings of the club, and the writer for one will regret- their departure. Air Bradford then asked Airs Barlow to accept on behalf of the club some Doulton ware as a mark of esteem in which she neld by its members. He also asked Air Barlow to accept a fountain pen as a memento from the club for the happy times he liad spent with them while at Auroa. Air in responidng on behalf of Airs Barlow and himself, said he was quite taken by surprise, and had known nothing of the presentation, till apprised of the fact just a few minutes before, so he was at a disadvantage as to what to say. He thanked the club for, the presentations, and said they would serve as mementos to keep them in mind of the Happy timesi they spent among its members while at Auroa, and whatever he and Airs Barlow had done for the club they had done most willingly, and he hoped the club would still go ahead by leaps and bounds. A very dainty supper was .served by the lady friends of the club, whose ministrations were all that could be desired. The dance music was supplied hv Airs Bradley’s orchestra in its usual good style, extras being played by Aliss Heal, Aliss AlcCarty. Miss Adams and others. Air Ross, Alessrs Hartley Bros., F. Barlow arid J. Deegan made efficient AFs.C. The best thanks of the club are due to the-ladies of the district for putting on such a fine supper and the assistance they have rendered the duff with decorations, etc. The gathering dispersed shortly after 2 a.m.. evei’youe proclaiming it the best ball the club has held. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
