MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

WEEKLY SITTING

The weekly sitting of the Hawera Magistrate’s Court was held to-day, Mr. J. S. Barton, S.M., presiding. ADULTERATED MILK. For selling adulterated milk, Joshua Harrison was convicted, and fined £5 and 17s 6d costs. The case against Rosie Harrison (Mr. Bayley), who was the original defendant, was withdrawn, it being established that Joshua was the owner of the business at the time the breach was committed. DEFENCE CASE. Richard Win. Frost was fined 16s and, 7s court costs for failing to notify the/ defence authorities of his change of address BY-LAW CASES. Thomas Jackson Henderson, who did not appear, was fined £2 and 7s court costs for driving a horse and cart along Chute Street, Normanby, without lights. When accosted Henderson gave a wrong name to the police For driving a motor lorry in Princes Street without a rear light, Leslie Gower was fined £1 and 7s court costs. A similar fine was .imposed upon Alexander Fraser for allowing a motor cycle and sidecar to stand without lights in Victoria Street. For riding a bicycle in Glover Road without a light, Albert Hovind was fined 10s and 7s court costs. BY T DEFAULT. Judgment for the plaintiff with costs against the defendant was given in eacli of the following undefended civil cases: B. R. Long v. W. Keen, £2; A. Hurliman v. Mary Tonga, £3 10s. JU DGMENT SUMMONSES. Orders were made in the following judgment summons cases: W. Hawkins v. Joe Hokapara, £3 2s 6d. in default lour Jays’ imprisonment.
