ROAD ACCESS.

MORAWATEA. (By Telegraph.—Special to Star.) WELLINGTON, Julv 16. The member for Paten recently asked the Minister for Public Works whether in view of the present impassable state' of Wharariki Road, Morawatea Valley, he will issue instructions that will ensure the immediate re-opening of this road to enable the settlers to get stock in to and out of their holdings. The Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister for Public Works, replied 'that Whararika Road is in a similar position to many others, having- been rendered unusable owing to the recent heavy floods. Sufficient monetary authority to open the road has already been issued, and the work will be put in hand next week. Repairs to the bridge cannot be undertaken until about November next, when the <roads should be in a. fit condition for the cartagej of material. In the meantime the existing ford is quite usable.
